The real problem with AE is that diplomacy is non existant and that political alliances never change. It's true Rome started small but they have been allied with Teutons and Etruscans for a long time and have since become allies with Egypt, Hellenes and Celtiberians (allies by default).
Teutons are not a big tribe, but we will defeat you all the time because of the Teutons superiority, no matter of the numbers. We beat you both Samoyed and Sarmatians in 318 Tambov if I remember correctly being outnumbered. More than that, our gods beats your gods every day of the week.
It's not our fault you are not able to build up your tribe and forge alliances in the way Romans, starting with less than 15 warriors and in civil war did. We did not ally with Dacians and Hellenes who use to have the upper hand at that times, but become friends with a small nation, Romans everybody looking to attack because of his weakness. The jackals were driven away and Romans prospered because they was honorable and reliable friends.
Blame the game, blame the weather, blame the numbers, blame whatever you want.. that won't change the fact you're on the wrong side of the club (smashing).
Hahahaha.. (sorry, no insulting link)
I will finish with a quote from House Julia leader (RTW):" God, how I hate Gauls.."
Do not throw the arrow which will return against you!
