Because of getting the giggles Us Chi wasn't able to add a word. She stepped on deck.

A copy of the Macedonian's proclamation found it's way to Rome.

Lea snorted. What, she wondered, did the Macedonian ladies think of being offered up as prizes? Had the Macedonian women even been consulted in this? Or were they kept as slaves and given no say in their fate by the men making this offer? The suddenness with which the Macedonian provinces had been taken over by foreigners gave some weight to this speculation.
But perhaps this attitude was the exception rather than the rule in Macedonia and the writer of this pamphlet had merely managed to put his foot in his mouth? Lea hoped for the sake of the Macedonian ladies that that was the case.

But what about any women warriors who chose to visit the Macedonian nation? Were they to be offered lesser hospitality than the men? "Had I not been specifically uninvited for being a Roman I would take offense at the wording of this invitation on behalf of all womanhood and would refuse to visit in protest of such misogynistic proclamations." Lea thought. She continued reading:

"The Romans are sensible strategists who naturally make best use of their advantages in battle. Also Rome thinks of the future and plans to build a lasting Empire. If it takes merely 3 recruits to pull down an experienced warrior, who has spent his entire life fighting: well done recruits!" Lea thought.

Lea flicked away the proclamation and dismissed the matter from her mind. She had more important business to attend to. Though perhaps she would mention to the Roman senate that mounting an expedition against Herzegowina might be a mission of mercy for the poor Macedonian women in Herzegowina, who might well welcome being rescued from such treatment.

Kralle was bringing justice to the filthy barbarians of northern africa. He was just going to punish a man, who dared to have a nose that looked like that of Lars Porsenna, when the message from Macedonia arrived.
"You insolent messenger barbarian! Can't you see I'm busy civilizing those misguided people? You traveled a long way to bring me this, you say? Alright. You there, wise man, read it out loud!"

The croud, including the filthy barbarians unworthy to hear these words, listened carefully and watched anxiously how the celtiberian Archon was going to react.
"You should be ashamed, messenger barbarian! You're wasting the time of these poor souls here! They're criminals, who need to be penalized so they haven't to suffer from they're filthiness any longer! If I leave to play games, who is going to redeem them? You should think first, messenger barbarian! Bring this message to Ptolemaios and his boys. They certainly would love to join those games. And tell them to punish you for your crimes!"

Once the messenger left the scene, Kralle's mind was set on the barbarians again. Opa Kralle, fair and even-handed as he has always been, decided that the barbarian's life should be spared. Everyone deserves a second chance. The barbarian was sentenced to only twenty bludgeon strokes and a broken nose, so he can reflect on his serious crime and think twice next time, if he plans to look like Porsenna. Once again justice has triumphed.

"Messenger, please find our guests. Celtiberian and Dacian warrior are reported to be in the town. Invite them to our feast tonight and organize them the best rooms we have.
Make sure that they know that we apologize for the fact that we can't offer the service of a smith at the moment. Let me know if they need anything more"

Yes, it has been an outstanding performance by the Celtiberians, who are pretty used in fighting under tournament rules. Us Chi wondered about the question if this warrior would also be able to sustain in a real battle. How can a tribe having fighter like this being satisfied with playing games all the time...

Two times the holy peace of the games was disturbed by the foolish attacks of the savage, barbarian coalition of the Romans and their lapdogs. We have to care for it.

But first of all it is time for a prayer:
Mighty Gods of the world send some brain to the leaders of the poor tribes of the Romans, Teutonians, Etruscians and Helenes. Make them able to find a way back to human civilization, give them a basic understanding of respect.

Be graciously to their warriors who were sent into a senseless battle against the Macedonians and the Sicilians tribes, a senseless battle ending with the senseless death of so many of their young warriors, being forced to follow such mindless leaders.

But we know them, all of them. We remember them. Where ever these evildoers try to flee to, we will find them, this is our duty.

My beloved tribe, I know you wanted to offer peace to the Romans and their weak-willed followers. But you see: We offered peace without any preconditions during the games and like a common thief, like robbers and murders in the darkness of the night, they attacked our homes and tried to murder all of us and our families.

I know you are longing for a lifetime in freedom. But we have to follow our duty. We will not fail in this challenge.

The freedom will be our wages.

A fisher, whose fishing ground was the Adriatic Sea and who had far too much time on his hands, was in the crowd listening to the speech of Butch the Slaughterer and reported the results of the competition and the contents of this speech to Lea.

Truly the Celtiberians were great warriors and worthy allies to anyone lucky enough to number them amongst their friends. Naturally Rome would not dream of impeding the movements of Rome's friends or stopping them from going where ever they pleased.

Butch the Slaughterer was reported to have said:

What was that man raving? Rome had received no proposal of peace from the Macedonians via the usual diplomatic channels and had most certainly not signed any peace treaty with the Macedonians. Moreover, while Rome had tested the defenses of the castle at Herzegowina some months in the past, previous to the games held there, no attack from either Rome or her allies had occured against Herzegowina during the games held there.

If some attack against Herzegowina did indeed occur, it must have been instigated by some other nation; after all the Macedonians freely made enemies where ever they went. Or, also a strong possibility considering the character of the person making these allegations, the supposed attack against Herzegowina during the games was simply a drunken dream of Butch the Slaughterer.

No wonder numerous diplomatic overtures to the Macedonians from Rome, with a view towards making peace, had failed, how could anyone make reliable, dependable, solid and trustworthy treaties with persons suffering from delusions?
