Britain Clans      03.03.2011 00:43:01 --- 1 Year, 2 Months ago
It was winter, a rough time, especially on the north in the Pictish land where chief Longbeard stayed in a large house called crannóg standing on a frozen lake. This house was specially built for practicing combat until winter has passed. There wasn't much to do in that period but hunt and practice.
Chief Longbeard was concerned about his people, pushed from warmer lands of south, without much hope or anything to look forward he consulted his druid.

Mawgan! - said the Chief - We are hungry, and tired of this swampland. What did our Gods tell you, what should we do?

Quiet, Eternal Quiet. Not even the sound of the restless, stirring, dark waters could be heard. - like something posesed the wise druid, he answered, like it was someone else talking trough him. - Then, a great spiraling strain of Melody moved across the endless waters. Subdued at first, then quickly gathering momentum until it reached a great crescendo. - Mawgan stopped, then he look deeply in to Chiefs eyes - And, then, there was Life! - Druid had shouted.

Longbeard was confused, but strangely enough, he understood what the old man was saying - go on! - said he...

But the Melody did not stop. It continued its song, filling all of Creation with its divine harmony. And so it continues today, for all those who listen. - Mawgan walked trough the room moving his hands, trying to picture the scene to the brave Chieftain. - Oran Mór! - Druid had finished.

When will I hear this melody you speak of!? - impatient Chief Longbeard asked the old man. The Druid stormed out and Chief chased him, but he vanished in the tin air.

Just when Longbeard gave up and went back in, horse trumping could be heard, he turned to see what was that sound. - Message for the Picts! - yelled the horseman who rode all the way from south, and gave the message to the Chieftain.

Where are you from boy? - asked the Longbeard with low and growling tone wolf-like.
Wesseks, Brittany - frighten boy had answered.
But Druid Mawgan was the only literate man in the tribe, but Chieftain wasn't going to let the boy know that, so he grabbed the boy by the neck and dragged him inside the house. He threw the message in to the fire gave the boy a threatening look and calmly asked - Who sent you, and what does he want? - The boy memorized the text and started to recite - Thats not what I asked you... - a bit annoyed sound could be heard in the question from the Chief - Archon, called Kalisto Dalenen from Brits, claims a ruling title of all Britanny and calls all tribes from the north to join his cause. - Longbeard took his axe from the wall and chopped the boys head off, took it and yelled for his messenger to take it to so called Kalisto Dalenen. - Throw it to them from the safe distance and hurry back home. Idiots, I will teach them a lesson they wont forget. Never again will they disturb my tribe.

Dark and sadly news was coming from northlands.

But Kalisto didn't know it yet, many duty occupied his mind. Many farmers and breeders reached his village searching a work or simplier safety for their family.
Barbarian tribes still skirmish along both sides of main rivers in the region trying to steal some gold or some woman to carovans towards bigger villages.

Kalisto thought that time to reach peace will be near when suddenly messengers from north were brought at his presence. Their faces was worried, no something more than just worried, horrified and scared!

Kalisto:: What's happened young men? Isn't your journey easy,is it? We had lost any hope to see you again, we thought some barbarians had eaten you as they usually do with wild aniamls as wild beasts.
Maybe my mind deceive itself, aren't you 3 ? where is your third mate?

Older man, gathering all his courage said:: Dear Archon, with all respectful to you i have to advise your majesty that Picts tribe, where we are sent by your majesty, aren't less barbarians people then barbarian itself.

Barbarians- animals people will fight for food or gold or for reproduce themselves.

Picts tribe, as their Archon demonstrated us, enjoy with bloods people and violence as them did with our mate.
They fight for their power and their fun only, fun of bored inhuman people

Kalisto, after thinking a bit, replied: so they enjoy only with blood and violence? they will have!

A year has passed since a strange message had come from the lowlands. Villages south of the Longbeard's home slowly stopped paying tribute, it troubled him cause the taxes were food and not in money. Without food his men will starve.
It was winter time so he couldn't plan any campaign until the snow melts. Too much time on his hands gave him an opportunity to think things trough, the words of his druid still rang in his mind like a strange echo, almost as if he is not imagining it.

Loud noise of water stream broke his sleep, he jumped out of his bed like it was on fire. Rushed outside and yelled to his men
- The spring is coming, move out! - if he was to convince his villages to continue to pay him tribute, he was to visit the so called king of all Britannia. No mercy and no negotiations, his honor was at stake.

As Longbeard saw Upplandish Picts they were all armed and armored with deer leather. He knew that Kalisto had sent weapons and armor to them not to pay him tribute but trade with so called Kingdom of Brits. A good resistance was present but not capable to stop the horde, it was a good lesson to villages not visited by Longbeard and his men.

Humberland wasn't Pictish land and their defenses where shatered faster than one in Upplands. The moral of his horde was raising as did fear of villagers he came a cross to. The horde was leaving death trails everywhere. The hides rich land of Cheshire was next.

After claming Cheshire, Longbeard started thinking he will have to go all the way to Wessex to face Kalisto, but his scout informed him that the Brit's troops were spoted in Yorkshire.
Quickly the horde started moving towards the enemy facing them on open field. The enemy consisted of regular Brit troops with the same number of Yorkshire villagers who were all together awaiting Horde's strike.

The chief Longbeard knew that his advantage was maneuverability as they were outnumbered but not weaker than the enemy. The Picts charged, aiming to strike hard but firing arrows at the same time on to the villagers to brake their moral, moral that they gained in outnumbering their enemy.
The tactic was working as many of the villagers shattered and finally the Horde clashed hard with the Brits braking their stance, but the Picts got surrounded. Luckily their cavalry managed to escape the slaughter on the field, which resulted the Brits to win that fight.
But the Brits still standing on the field weren't a match for the surviving Picts cavalry which clashed one more time in to them, causing the Horde to win this battle with big loss.

Unable to take Brit's castle, chief Longbeard retreated back to his castle but fortifying his lands all the way till Cheshire.

As the Brit's lost almost all the troops in this battle, they were not able to defend their castle for much long against the barbarians all around them. Maybe chief Longbeard didn't manage to defeat him in his castle but the villagers Kalisto bought did it for him.

Kalisto the foul King of all Britannia was last seen fleeing somewhere south.
