Number of outstanding issues accumulated at the
Censor's office was countless. Despite the work undertaken by Quintus Servilius, lieutenant of
Marcus Aurelius, diplomacy of the
Republic posed a daunting task.
Marcus decided to start solving some postponed issues:
QUOTE:
To Opa Kralle,
Archon of Celtiberian Tribe,
Ruler of the Western World:
Greetings from the Roman Republic...
For a long time, contacts between our peoples have remained stagnant. Constant wars in which the Republic has been inmersed over the years have not allowed us to strengthen our relations with our friendly nations. However, thanks to our lastest conversations around your warriors participation in Games organized by the Macedonian tribes, we have been able to regain contact.
News have arrived in Rome about help you have given to the people of Carthago in recovering their former territories and provinces. Roman Senatus, taking this into account, and also your long friendship and alliance with Etruscans, our northern friends, has decided that from this point on every celtiberian warrior will be allowed to visit roman territories and provinces with no inconvenience and without previous permissions. Your merchants and traders are also allowed to enter our markets in every province, asking for help and support from our magistrates and governors if necessary. Your armies will be allowed to cross our territories, and will also receive help and support if they need it.
With the hope this will be first step to improve relations between our nations...
May Gods be with you...
Respectfully,
Marcus Aurelius
Senator and Censor of the Roman Republic
