Some years has passed since the Ligurians and the Etruscans signed a non agression pact. since then the relationships between the to nations has increased. Many where the days when Ligurians and Etruscans after a hard days duels and battle vs barbarians sat at the tavern and together enjoyed some beer or redwine.

Gaius Julius really appreciated the close relations between the two people and as a consequence hereoff he decided to send a messenger to the Etrurian Archon

Since a non agression pact was signed between our two nations our relationship has grown tighter and the trade between our provinces has flourished. We the Ligurian people wish to bring the cooperation between our two nations to a higher level. As we share the same culture and pray to the same gods we suggest that the Ligurians and Etruscans sign a mutual defensive pact.

A defensive pact who commits our people to help each other defend our provinces in times of war.

What say you my friend to such an agreement"

Lars Porsenna sat in the chancery and reflected about the reports of his Locum and the protectors of the etruscan provinces. All reports had quasi the same content. Unrest barbarian hordes, wandering along the frontiers of Etruria. They need all attention and the warriors were on high alert.

The southern border was a sure one, because of the very friendly relations to the mighty Roman Republic. Near the same was to say about the western border, alongside to the young Ligurian nation. Both people came very close to each other resulting in a trustful friendship between the leaders and the peoples.

And now, few hours before dinner, arrived a fatigued ligurian messenger the archonts castle in Verona with an important message. Lars Porsenna reads it's content again and again. "Is there a problem with it?" he mumbled into his beard. The two german tribes, the Teutones and the Goth did'nt threat the Ligurians. No, he can't see a problem with this agreement. Au contraire it may help to defend provinces, peoples and the trading routes against the nameless barbarians threatening both Liguria and Etruria. After a short counsel with Germanicus, his Locum, he dictates the answer to the Ligurian archon Gaius Julius.

I read Your words and feel the honesty in it. I am pleased about Your intention, to defend our frontiers in a joint effort of ligurian and etruscan armies.

I will agree but before I want to go into detail.

Whenever a foreign army of whoever people or nation, be it with declaration of war or without, crosses the frontier of a province either of Liguria or Etruria in an act of war, the non-involved nation have to send their armies to aid.

This treaty will inure only if a foreign power initiates an act of war against either Liguria or Etruria.

This treaty will not inure when an act of war will be initiated by either Liguria or Etruria against whoever people or nation.

If either Liguria or Etruria will initiate an act of war against whoever people or nation and another power, if not allied with those, who are the defender against either Liguria or Etruria, initiates an act of war against those, this treaty will inure.

If either Liguria or Etruria initiates an act of war against whoever people or nation and another power will ally with those, this traty will not inure.

i hope of course it will never be nessecary to bring the treaty to use but if this is the case i will be honoured to fight side by side with my etrurian friends.

The signed agreement lies at the Archons desk. In Porsennas eyes it symbolizes the brotherhood between Ligurian and etruscan peoples. He signed the parchment with the prepared text of the treaty, being happy about. He took a belt of the lovely wine, growing at the heights around Verona, after doing so.
